Keeping our Noses Covered

Sometimes my dog has the right idea. The only way to cope in a moment of fear may be to go to bed and cover your nose. August has brought new fears, this time from the Delta variant. We had been feeling safe and optimistic here in well-vaccinated Massachusetts while horrified by the rising number of cases worldwide and worried about new cases in the red states. And then came the outbreak in Provincetown. And like the 2020 outbreak at the Biogen meeting in Boston, Massachusetts was leading the nation into a new era. This time, some vaccinated people are getting sick, and most people are scared. We are wearing masks if we go inside any venue, and increasingly while walking on the street. And we are getting ready to retreat to our houses, maybe our beds, and keeping our noses covered.
